DON'T THINK OUTSIDE THE SQUARE

Ps. Andri Wihandono

Transcript

In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus clearly stated that life is not about many choices, but only two: two gates and two paths. There is a narrow gate and a wide gate. There is a narrow path, yet it leads to life. Conversely, there is a broad path, but ultimately it leads to destruction.

This truth aligns with Christian doctrine, which states that there is only one way to reach God. However, the world often rejects this exclusive claim and demands us to “Think Outside The Square You Live In”.

Many people are uncomfortable with the claim that salvation is found only through Jesus Christ, as this is considered too narrow-minded, intolerant, or contrary to the spirit of openness highly valued by contemporary culture.

As believers, we must hold fast to the truth of God's Word that Jesus is the only way (John 14:6).

But Jesus also said that there is only one criterion that determines whether someone is truly His follower or not.

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus gave a strong warning that calling out 'Lord, Lord,' or prophesying in Jesus' name, or casting out demons in Jesus' name, or performing many miracles, are not the criteria that determine whether a person will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

The requirement to enter the Kingdom of Heaven is to do the will of the Father in heaven, which is to listen to and obey Jesus' commands (Matthew 17:5).

In other words, we cannot merely profess that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior if, in reality, our conduct contradicts His commands and will. Jesus clearly rejects and does not acknowledge those who merely offer "lip service”.

The world often emphasizes the importance of human achievement and collaboration with God to determine salvation. In contrast, true Christianity holds the principle that salvation is entirely a divine accomplishment and not a human result.

After receiving the grace of salvation, we are called to live by listening to Jesus' words and doing them, so that whatever season we may experience, our faith will not collapse (Matthew 7:24-27).

The invitation to Think Outside The Square You Live In is an alluring offer from the world, but Jesus gives a command: choose the narrow gate and the narrow path (Don't Think Outside The Square You Live In).

May the free will we possess not lead us further away from God. May we always be poor in spirit before God, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

May the Lord Jesus bless you.
