IGNITED BY LOVE

Ps. Jeffry Aghogho

Transcript

Romans 5:1-8 shows that God's love remains ignited even amidst suffering. The Apostle Paul offers a different spiritual perspective on life's difficulties. There are two important things we can learn from this word of God.

1. God's Love Ignites Hope Amidst Suffering.

In Romans 5:3 Paul says, “We also glory in our sufferings.” The world sees suffering as something to be avoided, but God's word teaches that suffering can produce something precious. Paul explains that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

This hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. God's love becomes a spiritual strength that keeps our faith burning brightly even when we face life's pressures. Without God's love, suffering can lead to bitterness and despair. But when we live in the love of the Lord, suffering actually shapes spiritual maturity.

Just as iron is forged in fire to become a strong sword, so too the Lord uses difficult times to shape our character. If today we are experiencing pressure or struggle, do not see it as the end of life's journey. It could be that God is forming perseverance, patience, and a deeper faith in our lives.

Therefore, don't give up. The tears we shed are not a sign that God has abandoned us. On the contrary, often the Holy Spirit is working in the deepest parts of our hearts. From there, true hope is born.

2. God's Love is Proven Not Only When We Are Worthy, But When We Are Weak.

Romans 5:6-8 states that while we were still weak and sinful, Christ died for us. God does not wait for us to become perfect to love us. Even when we were far from Him, He first demonstrated His love through the sacrifice on the cross.

Human love is often conditional, but God's love is not. Christ loved us not because we were worthy, but because He chose to love. On the cross, amidst unimaginable suffering, Jesus still said, “Father, forgive them.”

If today we feel unworthy or like failures, remember that God's love does not change. The cross of Christ remains proof that He accepts us. If today we still believe and walk with the Lord, it is all because of His love continuously working in our lives.

The Lord Jesus Bless You
