THE LAME MAN AT THE BEAUTIFUL GATE

Ps. Agus Gunawan

Transcript

The story of the lame man at the Beautiful Gate in Acts 3 teaches us a simple yet profound truth:

1. A daily commitment to seek God. The Bible records that the lame man was carried to the Beautiful Gate every day. This demonstrates extraordinary faithfulness. He had physical limitations, but he didn't let them prevent him from being close to God's presence. He chose to be at the temple gate, not somewhere else that might have been more materially advantageous. This speaks of his priorities. He put God above everything else.

This teaches us: • Make God your top priority, not your last resort. • Keep seeking God, even when conditions aren't ideal. • The longing of the heart is more important than physical strength.

2. Remain faithful even when a miracle hasn't happened yet. This lame man lived for decades without healing. It's even highly probable that he had seen Jesus pass by, but hadn't experienced a miracle himself. Yet, he wasn't disappointed. He kept coming, kept waiting, kept hoping.

This teaches us: • Don't give up when prayers haven't been answered. • Don't compare yourself to others. • Remain in God's presence.

Often, we easily get discouraged when God's answers don't come according to our timing. But faithfulness in waiting is key. Like a tree planted in the house of the Lord, our lives will continue to grow and bear fruit in due season. This faithfulness also applies to relationships, both family and marriage. A commitment to 'abide' and not give up will open the way for restoration.

3. Focus solely on God ('The Audience of One') When Peter and John arrived, the lame man was hoping for money. However, he received something far greater: healing in the name of Jesus. Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you... walk!”

Here we learn: • God's power is far greater than what we think we need. • True blessings come from God, not from people. • Our life's focus should be solely on God, not on human approval.

In this life, it's very easy for us to seek attention, praise, or validation from others. But as believers, we are called to live for only one "Audience," namely the Lord Jesus. When we live with this kind of commitment, we will see how God works in miraculous ways in our lives.

Remain faithful, remain hopeful, and remain in His presence. Because in His time, God will do what is best for our lives.

May the Lord Jesus bless you.
