THE MISSION & THE REWARD

Ps. Firmanto

Transcript

The world is not getting better day by day; in fact, it's becoming increasingly evil. This world, with all its desires, is passing away. That is bad news for the world and everything in it.

But praise God, we are not from this world, because our citizenship is in heaven, which will transform our humble bodies to be like His glorious body. Indeed, God chose us first.

So don't be surprised if the world hates us. We will not dwell in this world forever, but we will return to eternal heaven.

If God has placed us in this world, He certainly has a glorious mission or plan for us, along with its rewards: 1. Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it (Genesis 1:28). Reward: the fruit of the womb. 2. Sending His only begotten Son. Reward: not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 3. Go and preach the Gospel, make disciples of all nations, and baptize them (Matthew 28:19-20). Reward: 5 crowns.

It's important to know that when God gave the mission to be fruitful and multiply to Adam (Genesis 1:28), it happened before humanity fell into sin. At that time, there were no consequences like pain in conceiving and giving birth (Genesis 3:16).

However, after humanity fell into sin, suffering began: women experienced pain in childbirth, Abel was murdered by Cain, the flood occurred in Noah's time, and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

Did all of that cause God's plan to fail? The answer: no!

God's mission to bestow His Son, Jesus Christ, through Eve's offspring will never fail.

So, what kind of 'being fruitful and multiplying' can realize God's mission? It is being fruitful and multiplying that is centered on the Messiah, Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

Therefore, God needs and prepares a militant (proven) family:

Young people, seek a compatible and balanced partner who possesses the character of Christ, and enter into holy matrimony (Genesis 2:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14).

Honor your parents; stay in touch and care for them.

Husbands must be responsible as priests and heads of their families. Do not be indifferent, but be brave enough to sacrifice for your wives and children (Ephesians 5:25, 28).

Wives, have a gentle and wise heart. Do not be easily emotional or quick to blame your husbands. Be a prayer support and a constructive helper (Genesis 2:18).

Husbands and wives should humble themselves before each other, strengthen each other, and be role models for their children.

Parents, make good use of time with your children: play, worship, read the Word, and pray together (Deuteronomy 6:7). Raise them in the fear of the Lord; do not leave them entirely to gadgets or social media. Accustom them to learning God's Word (Ephesians 6:4).

Grandmothers and grandfathers, love your grandchildren with a balance of affection and discipline, and be fair to the family (Proverbs 17:6).

Make them disciples of Jesus.
