Often we desire a better life, but we are unwilling to change. Yet, change is the key to experiencing God's plan. A spiritual life that doesn't grow and doesn't change is actually headed towards spiritual death. Our faith needs to be trained, just like muscles need exercise to become strong. That training happens when we allow God to work and transform our lives.
God's Word in 2 Corinthians 3:17–18 teaches that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, and we are being transformed into His image. The word "transformed" speaks of change from within, not merely an external alteration.
Many try to change from the outside—appearance, achievements, or status. But God wants to change our hearts first. From within, that new life will flow.
There are three important things we need to consider:
1. The Presence of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not just a concept, but a real Person. He desires to be involved in every part of our lives. However, He does not force His way. We need to open our hearts and invite Him to work in our lives every day.
2. True Freedom.
God not only forgives our sins but also desires to set us free from old habits and lifestyles. Often we want freedom, but we still cling to the same patterns of life. Yet, it is that change which leads us to a new life.
3. Reflecting God's Glory.
Our lives should radiate God's light. When people see us, they should be able to sense God's peace, love, and joy. This is only possible if we continually allow ourselves to be transformed by Him.
So, how can we experience this transformation?
* Examine the "measure" of our lives: what standards do we use in life? * Don't live by feelings or other people's labels: let the Spirit of the Lord lead. * See ourselves as God sees us: we are children of God and part of His plan. * Dare to leave old limitations behind: with God, nothing is impossible.
When we are willing to change, God will add good things to our lives—peace, strength, and joy, even in difficult circumstances.
Today, let us make a decision: no longer persist in our old ways, but open our hearts to be transformed by the Holy Spirit.
May our prayer be: “Lord, more of You, and less of me.”
For when we are transformed by God, our lives will truly radiate His glory. Amen.
