There is one truth that forms the foundation of faith and the most central doctrine in Christianity: the resurrection of Christ.
1. The Resurrection of Christ ensures that our faith is not in vain.
Without the resurrection, our entire belief system collapses. In 1 Corinthians 15, the Apostle Paul affirms that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. This is the core of the Gospel – the good news that saves. When we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we are saved.
In ancient times, many rejected the resurrection. Greek philosophy viewed the body as a prison for the soul, while the Romans considered resurrection to be absurd. Even some Jewish people, like the Sadducees, rejected it. But they did not understand the Scriptures and the power of God. For if Christ was not raised, then our preaching and our faith would be futile. Our prayers, service, and sacrifices would be meaningless. A dead Savior cannot save. But because He rose, the Bible is proven true, and all His promises become “yes and amen.”
2. The Resurrection of Christ proves that He is Lord over death and life.
If our hope is only for this life, we are the most miserable of all people. Yet Christ is the firstborn from the dead – a guarantee that we who believe in Him will also be raised. Death entered through Adam, but resurrection comes through Christ. His grace is so great, surpassing all human merit.
He is the source of our life. Our breath, our time, and our entire existence are in His hands. Our mortal bodies will be transformed into glorious bodies. As Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in Me will live, even though they die.” This is a certain hope – eternal life with Him.
3. The Resurrection of Christ teaches us not to live in fear.
When John saw the resurrected Jesus, he fell at His feet, but Jesus said, “Do not be afraid!” He is the Living One, who was dead and now lives forever and ever, holding the keys of death and Hades. This means no situation is beyond His power.
In life, we may experience dark “Fridays” – suffering, failure, and tears. But there is always a “Sunday” of resurrection – new hope, restoration, and victory. As the Lord’s word says, weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning. On the cross, our past was settled. Through the resurrection, a new life begins.
Therefore, we celebrate Sunday as a day of victory. The day when Christ rose and gave us a living hope.
So rise up and rejoice! For our Lord lives. He has power over life and death. And because He rose, we too have the assurance of eternal life. The resurrection of Christ is not just a story, but a reality that changes everything and becomes an unshakable foundation of faith.
May the Lord Jesus bless you.
